Sound & Vision 2026
Where music and visual art intersect, Sound and Vision, presented by War Child and curated by Art On A Postcard Projects, returns this autumn. The story of Sound & Vision tracks back to 1994, when David Bowie, Brian Eno and Anthea Norman-Taylor curated Little Pieces from Big Stars, an exhibition that raised vital money for War Child. Sound & Vision carries that spirit of collaboration between art and music into a new generation.
The initiative invites artists to respond visually to song lyrics, translating music into postcard-sized art works. Chosen by Paul himself, the line this year is, “Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun” from Band on the Run, the title track from the 1973 album by Paul McCartney and Wings.

“Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun”
For the 2026 edition, 61 contemporary visual artists were invited to interpret McCartney's lyric, creating original, small-scale works. The project brings together diverse artistic perspectives, bridging established practitioners and emerging voices from across the globe. Using the lyric as a starting point, each artist is free to take it wherever their practice leads. The result is a collection of original works that sit between art and music, some close to the song’s imagery and some far from it. Bidders can take home a piece by an artist they already admire, or discover someone new through the lens of a song they know well.
Proceeds from the auction support War Child's initiatives protecting and assisting children living in conflict zones globally. Every artwork sold will aid War Child’s mission to protect, educate, provide mental health support, and stand up for children’s rights around the world.
The online auction takes place from Tuesday 27 October to Thursday 12 November 2026 in partnership with The Auction Collective and runs on their white-label auction platform, Indy.auction. A public exhibition of the works will be on view at Iconic Images Gallery in London from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November 2026.
Registration for the auction is now open, sign up here.
